There are no international guidebooks on what to buy where, and circumstances, prices, and quality can change rapidly, so we’ve put together an unofficial list of great global buys! Shopping the World
One of the best things about global travel is the shopping. Every country has its own specialties, such as gold in the Middle East, leather in Argentina or Italy, watches in Hong Kong, and local art in most countries. It is great fun (and at times a bit frustrating) to shop in a market unlike your own. The sights, the sounds, the textures— the entire experience is different in some fashion or anothBeing er, including the transaction itself.
Enjoying the Experience and Traveling (3)
One of the most important things I learned is the importance of the “little things” we carry with us each day. Yes, personal belongings make life nicer and to some extent easier, but I don’t remember the outfit I wore ten years ago. I do remember the little girl in the bright red skirt and crisp white blouse who came with her class to dance for my colleagues and me in a city in Ecuador.
